Flower fun for busy women.

We believe that flowers help women bloom into their best.

At Stem and Story, we hold space for women to be seen, celebrated, uplifted, and inspired — and to take care of themselves first.

Our philosophy in facilitating floral fun and fanciness is deeply rooted; self-compassion, community, and care for our Planet Earth ground everything we do.

Flowers inspire

There’s nothing more magical than telling your story with nature’s most gorgeous gifts.

Working with flowers reminds us of what’s most important to love and protect within ourselves and our world. They help us express who we are and how we feel, they tickle our senses and our imagination, and they breathe life into our most cherished spaces. Flowers help us celebrate ourselves.

Flowers are for fun

Women deserve the permission to play with flowers.

We care more when we make things ourselves, and we deserve that care. We deserve to try new things without pressure or expectation, simply because we want to! We deserve to have fun, relax, and bask in our own undeniable beauty.

Designing with flowers and growing in our craft invite us to be curious, see more deeply, grow our agency, connect mindfully, and invest in ourselves.

Whether it’s for a special occasion or just because there is air in your lungs and today is a great day to be alive. We believe that flowers are not just meant for looking, they’re meant for play and creativity. Flowers are for life.

Stem and Story and Sustainability

Close to the heart, close to home

Lucky for us, gorgeous flowers grow most everywhere. A lifelong love for sustainability and the environment, the slow flower movement**, foraging along bike paths and overgrown lots and sidewalks, and learning about the incredible work of local farmer-florists showed me that we shouldn’t have to look far away to find beautiful blooms and foliage; we can look near us — starting from within us — for the beauty we most want to showcase.

Flowers teach us how to see.

How we’ve related to flowers over time can teach us about colonialism, capitalism, hierarchies and expectations of all kinds. When we create and relate with nature and her gifts on a personal, intimately meaningful level, we are granted precious opportunities to see things in a new light and consider brighter futures.

Flowers teach

Flowers teach us how to see, how to love, and how to care for ourselves.

Flowers teach us about growth, change, and decay, about interdependence, resilience, seasonality, and ephemerality. They help us reflect on our specific strengths and adaptations and about what we most need to thrive. In our fast-paced world, it’s more important than ever to turn to nature as our most important teacher.

Flowers can teach us about resistance and revolution, the intention of living in harmony and balance with all beings, and the transformational choice to live with self-compassion as you go about blooming and evolving in the world.

A flower is beautiful on its own, so to cut it and arrange it with other flowers are radical actions, saying essentially: “I can make you even more beautiful.”
